Celia's Story

Hi I'm Celia and I have an 18 month old boy called Devon. We moved to Pembrokeshire about 2 years ago, so that we could set up our own business. Things have been a little slower than expected, especially since Devon was born.

When I was pregnant, one of the questions people sometimes ask is what kind of nappies you are going to use. It was this conversation that put me in touch with Jeni one of the real nappy coordinators in Pembrokeshire. I decided to use washable nappies before Devon was born, because I thought it would be cheaper, and better for the environment, and if my mum had managed it then I was sure that I could. I have since found out that it could be better for his health too.

When I chose what nappies to use I chose the cheapest option of muslin squares and a waterproof wrap. They were easy to use and dried in no time. Now that Devon is bigger I use bamboo towelling squares and a waterproof wrap. These again are a cheap and quick drying option. I would recommend anyone thinking about using real nappies to give it a try, what's the worst that can happen!
